No one knows the legend of the Ghost Train that returns to McMillan Park, Mt Pleasant every October. The Ghost Train, hissing steam and looming large and black, with her six cob-webbed coaches, appears mysteriously from the old South Station roundhouse. It heads westward towards the North Depot area of the park to gather her unsuspecting costumed riders on what could be a train of no return. It is said that ghostly inhabitants, large rats, flying ghosts, huge spiders, Beetlejuice, and even Oscar the Grouch are known to have made their presence in the old South Station roundhouse. Creatures in the night seem to multiply with each passing year and are eager to welcome riders to their haunted abode. (Could they be the riders from ghost trains of the past?)

The volunteers and members of Midwest Central Railroad and a host of other community organizations invite you to come and witness this spook-filled phenomena of Halloween. Wristbands are available on the grounds, if you DARE to ride the Ghost Train of No Return.
The evening is packed full with fall activities. From pony rides to ferris wheel rides, balloon jumping to children's games, the evening will keep even the young at heart busy. Count Dracula, Weirwolves, green witches, sparkled princesses to mentioned a few roam the streets of Snipe Run under clear moonlite night skies. PumpkinHead will eagerly wave final farewells as you take an emptied seat aboard the train.
No Fall event would be complete without a weiner roast or a hayrack ride by steam engine under a full moon. Many little costumed ghosts and goblins can have their faces painted. Be sure to visit the hay maze and the Haunted Alley near Snipe Run. The haunted house is no place for the weak of heart to be. Take a trip on a haunted trolley though the dark meadow. Be sure to hold hands with your neighbor. You are not alone.
Madame Crull and her troup of travelling gypsies will be reading palms and telling fortunes. Will you return on the Ghost train, only they can predict your future.
If you are hungry after an evening of Fall fun, visit the food vendors. Your taste buds will have to choose from kettle korn, funnel cake, or cotton candy. For a hardier appetite, hot chili and pie are served in the saloon, hamburgers, brats and even elk burgers will fill any stomach. For dessert, no Fall event would be complete without warm, goey caramel apples.
Bring the family, bring your friends AND bring your camera. The engineers and conductors of Midwest Central Railroad are in a Halloween mood and invite you to ride their Ghost Train of No Return if you DARE!
